I am an associate professor at School of Information Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and a visiting researcher at RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project. I run RebelsNLU at JAIST, an international lab focusing on Natural Language Understanding and reasoning (e.g. commonsense reasoning, world knowledge, explainable NLP systems, argumentation, logical inference).
Previously, I was a postdoc at AI Institute, Stony Brook University, working on multiple Natural Language Processing projects with Professor Steven Skiena, Professor Niranjan Balasubramanian and Professor Andrew Schwartz (2020/9-2022/3). I was also an assistant professor in Natural Language Processing lab at Tohoku University, Japan and working with Professor Kentaro Inui (2015/8-2020/3).
My research interest is in natural language processing, especially in natural language understanding, commonsense inference, explainability, argumentation, logical inference and discourse processing.
